\nIs Connecticut really the second-worst state in the country for Hispanic Americans to live?
\nThat\u2019s the view of 24\/7 Wall St., a financial news and opinion web site, in a study released Tuesday.
\nAlthough Connecticut residents are among the wealthiest in the nation, the financial disparity between white households and Hispanic ones is also among the highest, the study shows.
\nWhites have sharply higher incomes and home ownership rate than Hispanics here, while more Hispanic families live in poverty, according to the data drawn from the U.S. Census Bureau<\/span><\/a>\u2019s 2014 American Community Survey and other sources.
\nAmong the 14.3 percent of Connecticut residents who identify themselves as Hispanic, the unemployment rate is the second highest in the country \u2014 11.3 percent \u2014 and the incarceration rate of 1,195 per 100,000 people is the 10th highest. The rate of home ownership among Connecticut Hispanics, 32.7 percent, is the fifth lowest in the country, the 24\/Wall St. study indicates.
\nThe financial news site says it blended census data with figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/span><\/a>, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics<\/span><\/a>, the U.S. Department of Education and private think tanks studying immigration and prison policy.
