Perez<\/span> did not receive a fair trial when he was convicted of corruption in 2010, Perez formally had his convictions thrown out Wednesday.<br \/>\nState prosecutors say they intend to try Perez again on the corruption charges, although no date for the trials have been set. Perez is scheduled to appear again in court on Nov. 14.<\/p>\n<div class=\"trb_gptAd trb_ar_main_ad\">Judge Julia D. Dewey, who was the trial judge, took note of the Supreme Court decision and ordered the verdicts vacated.<\/div>\n<div class=\"trb_ar_cont\">Perez was convicted in 2010 of five extortion and bribery charges. The convictions were reversed by the state Appellate Court and then the state Supreme Court, which both found that Perez did not get a fair trial.<\/div>\n<div class=\"trb_ar_cont\">A Hartford jury found that Perez took bribes that consisted of about $40,000 in kitchen and bathroom improvements for his home from Carlos Costa, a contractor who was doing a Park Street improvement project for the city. There was testimony at the trial that Perez blocked an effort by the city public works department to fire Costa for poor performance.<\/div>\n<aside class=\"trb_embed\">\n<div class=\"trb_embed_media\">\n<figure class=\"trb_embed_imageContainer_figure\"><\/figure>\n<div class=\"trb_embed_related\">\n<div class=\"trb_embed_related_credit_and_caption\">After his conviction, Perez was sentenced to 10 years in prison, suspended after he served three, and three years of probation.
