A 2012 Fulbright Scholar to Spain, he has been the recipient of such honors as the 2009 American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education Outstanding Latino Faculty of the Year Award, Connecticut&#8217;s Higher Education Multicultural Faculty of the Year Award and has published poetry in such journals as <a href=\"http:\/\/callaloo.tamu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Callaloo<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-teachers-voice.org\/volume2number1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Teacher&#8217;s Voice<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.palabralitmag.com\/id3.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Palabra<\/a>, Acentos Review, Calabash and Colere, and anthologies including Coloring Book, Nantucket: A Collection, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ablongman.com\/catalog\/academic\/product\/0,1144,0321093836,00.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Latino Boom<\/a>: An Anthology of U.S. Latino Literature, which he also co-edited.\u00a0 His work was most recently included in a special edition of OCHO featuring Latino poets.\u00a0He was the recipient of the 2006 Poet of the<\/em> <em>Year Award presented by the New England Association of Teachers of English.\u00a0 In addition,<\/em> he has contributed <em>critical and nonfiction essays to such journals as New England Quarterly and to National Public Radio.\u00a0He has been featured in the nationally syndicated show, American Latino TV, as well as Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education. <\/em><br \/>\n<em>Jose infuses his presentations with a mix of poetry, humor, and social commentary.
