The foreign-born share among Guatemalans (61.3% in 2015) fell by 17.2 percentage points during this time, the largest percentage-point decline of the six largest Hispanic origin groups. Salvadorans\u2019 foreign-born share (58.8% in 2015) also had a significant drop, declining 16.9 percentage points. Meanwhile, the Mexican foreign born share (32.2% in 2015), had a smaller decline\u20139.3 points.&#8221;<br \/>\nThe new Pew report also said the U.S, Latino population in 2016 is close to 58 million people, &#8220;accounting for half of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pewhispanic.org\/2016\/09\/08\/latino-population-growth-and-dispersion-has-slowed-since-the-onset-of-the-great-recession\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc\">national population growth since 2000<\/span><\/a>,&#8221; about 18% of the total U.S. population.\u00a0Despite the growth, U.S. Latinos are not the fastest-growing racial of ethnic group.
