As the weather\nbegins to warm up and Connecticut\u2019s 2.5 million drivers begin to hit the road\nfor weekend getaways, it\u2019s time to start getting your car ready for summer\nfun.  <\/p>\n\n\n

In addition to being prepared for congested roads, AAA<\/a> has a few recommended steps to get your car ready.<\/p>\n\n\n

Clean your car<\/h2>\n\n\n

The first may seem\nlike common sense, thoroughly clean the car\u2019s exterior. The salt and sand used\nto de-ice major roads during the winter can be highly corrosive to metal,\naccording to AAA. And it has the potential to damage the vehicle\u2019s drivetrain.<\/p>\n\n\n

Before changing from snow tires to regular tires, thoroughly rinse the area. Next you should apply lubricant to the threads of the lug nuts to prevent them from getting stuck, according to AAA. And even if you didn\u2019t use snow tires, AAA said it\u2019s a great preventative measure to help avoid issues down the road.<\/p>\n\n\n

Check the brakes<\/h2>\n\n\n

\u00a0Because spring means no snow and ice on the roads, people will naturally tend to drive faster. Inspecting the brakes is vital to preventing problems. <\/p>\n\n\n
