Schools were ranked based on their performance on state-required tests, graduation and how well they prepare students for college.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Connecticut\u2019s top 10 high schools are:<\/p>\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Darrien High School:<\/strong>\u00a0 National ranking 150. Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exams, with a participation rate of 74 percent. It had a total enrollment of 1,354 with 5percent being Latino.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Weston High School:<\/strong>National ranking 169. In Advanced Placement work and exams, participation rate was 76 percent. The school\u2019s enrollment was 814 with 4 percent being Latino.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Achievement First Hartford Academy Inc.:<\/strong> National ranking 285. The AP participation rate at the school was 100 percent. According to usnews.com, Latinos made up 26 percent of the student body which totaled 152.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Ridgefield High School:<\/strong>National ranking 317. The AP participation rate was 71 percent. Latinos made up 6 percent of the student body, which totaled 1,666 according to usnews.com.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Connecticut IB Academy:<\/strong>National ranking 321. The Connecticut International BaccalaureateAcademy relies on a parent advisory council to promote communication between the school and students\u2019 families. Every student at CIBA completesInternational Baccalaureate requirements for graduation, which include academic and service components.\u00a0Total student enrollment was 197, with 19 percentLatino, according to usnews.com<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>New Canaan High School:<\/strong>National ranking 342. The AP participation rate was 66 percent. It has a total enrollment of 1,266 of which 4 percent are Latino.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Staples High School:<\/strong> National ranking 361. The AP participation rate was 65 percent. Total student population was 1,853 with 5 percent being Latino, according to usnews.com.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Simsbury High School:<\/strong>National ranking 404. The AP participation rate was 68 percent. Total school enrollment was 1,412 with 5 percent being Latino.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Wilton High School:<\/strong> National ranking 424. The AP participation rate was 61 percent. Total school enrollment was 1,331 with 3 percent being Latino.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>\u00a0<strong>Academy of Aerospace and Engineering:<\/strong> National ranking 435. The AP participation rate was 69 percent.
