{"id":5084441,"date":"2019-06-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-06-26T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ctlatinonews.com\/sazon-de-connecticut-soma-grille-simsbury\/"},"modified":"2019-06-26T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-06-26T04:00:00","slug":"sazon-de-connecticut-soma-grille-simsbury","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latinonewsnetwork.com\/ctln\/2019\/06\/26\/sazon-de-connecticut-soma-grille-simsbury\/","title":{"rendered":"Saz\u00f3n de Connecticut: Soma Grille, Simsbury"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>By Karen Cort\u00e9s\/CTLatinoNews.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Latin flavor has arrived in the Farmington Valley at the historic Amos Eno House on Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury. <\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two longtime Hartford-area restauranteurs, Chris Riley, and Carlos Rodriguez are managing partners of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.SomaGrille.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Soma Grille<\/a>, the newest addition to Simsbury\u2019s already busy restaurant row. &nbsp;With a wrap-around bar, a 40-seat dining room, and a large lower level event space, its modern interior is a surprising juxtaposition to the Amos Eno House\u2019s classic 1822 architecture, while the outdoor porch dining area maintains many original elements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The menu combines American chophouse, and Mediterranean and Latin dishes, introducing new options to the Farmington Valley, where fewer than 4% of residents identify as Hispanic or Latino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> \u201cSo far, every table in our dining room has ordered our paella, made with local seafood, chorizo, and house-made romesco,\u201d said Riley. In the coming weeks, Soma will transition from soft opening to full service, adding lunch hours and a tavern menu that features Cuban sandwiches and lobster and chorizo tacos.<\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Soma Grille, Simsbury\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/feskUmXlmJc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption>Chris Riley, Managing Partner, Soma Grille<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Soma Grille shares the Eno House with the Simsbury 1820\nHouse, a 32-room inn whose guests from the U.S. and abroad have been among the\nfirst diners during the soft opening. \u201cAnd we are already getting repeat\ncustomers from Simsbury,\u201d says Riley.<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-3 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Riley and Rodriguez met while employed at the Max Restaurant Group, and are veterans of Hartford\u2019s Costa del Sol, the Spanish cuisine institution that announced its temporary closure in the spring of 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The pair has already booked more than a dozen events and plans to expand beyond wedding receptions, showers, and business meetings. \u201cCarlos and I have put on more than 50 quincea\u00f1eras,\u201d says Riley, adding that the event space is the ideal size for most quincea\u00f1era celebrations. <\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Happy hour specials\nare served Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and dinner service\nbegins at 5:00 p.m. &nbsp;A ribbon cutting\nwith the Simsbury Main Street Partnership is scheduled for July 9 at 5:00 p.m.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Soma Grille, 731 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, Conn. , (860) 217-0937, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.somagrille.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.SomaGrille.com <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saz\u00f3n de Connecticut features Hispanic\/Latino cuisine, eateries in Connecticut.
