HARTFORD – Restauranteur Luz Maria Olmino welcomed customers, elected and international officials Tuesday to celebrate the La Casita Del Sabor II<\/a>\u2019s grand opening. <\/p>\n\n\n

The new restaurant aims to expand Olmino and her family\u2019s mission to serve as a community gathering spot for delicious Latin American food, great company and civic engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cI am so proud of all we have achieved as a business and as a family over the years,\u201d Olmino said. \u201cI am especially honored to receive such recognition from our community leaders, and I look forward to working with our family and neighbors to help both La Casita II and the community to prosper.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Olmino and her son Erick Fernando Sanchez Olmino were recognized by Ambassador Carlos Garcia of the United Nations Association of El Salvador, Secretary of the State Denise Merrill. Secretary Merrill presented Olmino and Sanchez with an official citation recognizing La Casita del Sabor\u2019s many years of economic and community contributions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The restaurant has an overwhelming sense of community and a true outpouring of support.<\/p>\n\n\n

When asking community members to describe Luz, their replies are full of admiration, proud smiles and emotion in their eyes as they share examples of the depth of Luz\u2019s character and values.<\/p>\n\n\n

Olmino is an immigrant from Guatemala who, despite many barriers such as not knowing how to speak the English language, is an amazing example of entrepreneurship and hard work.<\/p>\n\n\n

Erick Fernando Sanchez, is now owner of La Casita del Sabor II located on 1995 Park Street in Hartford, just a mile from La Casita del Sabor I<\/a>, located at 1405 Park Street. <\/p>\n\n\n

La Casita II features a warm modern decore and offers expanded seating and parking. A highlight is the smoothie bar with a variety of flavors including mango, papaya, strawberry, pineapple, tamarind and more. <\/p>\n\n\n
