The chance of having type 2 diabetes is closely tied to background. For example, if your heritage is Puerto Rican, you\u2019re about twice as likely to have type 2 diabetes as someone whose background is South American. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier this month, a bipartisan group of lawmakers introduced legislation that would cap insulin prices for consumers and allow access to emergency insulin without a prescription. <\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> \u201cNobody in Connecticut should die because they can\u2019t afford insulin,\u201d said Rep. Sean Scanlon, D-Guilford. Scanlon joined legislators from both sides of the aisle and both chambers of the General Assembly to outline their proposal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.journalinquirer.com\/politics_and_government\/bill-would-cap-insulin-prices-allow-for-emergency-access\/article_8691b548-4f4f-11ea-9a28-d7e6e96848f7.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> the Journal Inquirer. <\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposal would not regulate the amount drug companies can charge for insulin, but would limit what consumers could be charged, meaning insurance companies would have to pay the difference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CONNECTICUT RESIDENTS NEED LOWER RX PRICES <\/h4>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CTLatinoNews.com  (CTLN) is partnering with <a href=\"https:\/\/states.aarp.org\/connecticut\/?cmp=RDRCT-ICM-WELCOMEKIT-STATES-CT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AARP Connecticut<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/action.aarp.org\/site\/Advocacy?cmd=display&amp;page=UserAction&amp;id=8253\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">STOP RX GREED <\/a>campaign to inform and call the public to action in telling their elected officials that they need to act NOW to lower prescription drug costs<strong>.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the initiative, CTLN is hosting Listening Tours in collaboration with the Connecticut State Library. The public is invited to attend the events where guest speakers will provide valuable information about the high cost of prescription drugs like insulin and what they can do to bring about changes to the unjust practices by the pharmaceutical companies.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a
