As we near what is traditionally the busiest travel week of the year, state health officials strongly advise residents to refrain from Thanksgiving gatherings. <\/p>\n\n\n

The guidance applies to those who live in the state as well as visitors planning to celebrate the holiday here in Connecticut. Public health experts fear a bump in COVID-19 cases resulting from multiple member dinners could overwhelm hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n

More than 3 million air travelers\u00a0passed through TSA security checkpoints<\/a>\u00a0from Friday, Nov. 20, to Sunday, Nov. 22 \u2014 the most of any three-day period during the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n

Every Tuesday, the list of states that require a 14-day quarantine for anyone coming to Connecticut for more than 24 hours or returning home to Connecticut is released. <\/p>\n\n\n

The U.S. Virgin Islands was added to Connecticut’s coronavirus travel advisory list yesterday. That makes it 48 restricted states and territories:<\/p>\n\n\n

    According to NBC Connecticut<\/a>, anyone traveling into Connecticut from a state, other than New York, New Jersey, or Rhode Island, with a positive case rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents, or higher than a 10 percent test positivity rate over a 7-day rolling average, or from a country for which the\u00a0Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 3 Travel Health Notice<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is directed to self-quarantine for 14 days from the time of last contact within the identified state or country.<\/p>\n\n\n

    Hispanic \u2013 Latino residents have been\u00a0disproportionately impacted<\/a>\u00a0by the virus, an analysis by the Connecticut Data Collaborative revealed how vast that disparity is. The number of Hispanic -Latino residents who died in April almost tripled. Meanwhile, white deaths nearly doubled.<\/p>\n\n\n

    There are 43 more COVID-related deaths and the positivity rate has decreased to 4.8% over the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n

    The state’s COVID-19 death toll as of Tuesday stands at 4,871.<\/p>\n\n\n

    With nearly 110,000 COVID-19 tests performed over the weekend, 5,271 came back positive.<\/p>\n\n\n

    Connecticut’s average positivity rate over the past week is now 5.5%, which is a decrease from 5.8% on Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
