This effort will help foster a more equitable future&#8221;, said Joe DeLong, Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) Executive Director, and CEO.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CCM, in conjunction with the Campaign School at Yale University, will conduct a virtual two-day training program designed to assist more people of color with the skills needed to run for local public office in Connecticut.\u00a0\u00a0<em><strong>Representation Matters: Are You Ready To Run For Local Office?\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>will take place via\u00a0Zoom on February 13 &amp; February 27,\u00a0from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u00a0<strong>Day One <\/strong><\/em>on Saturday, February 13 will be led by the renowned Campaign School at Yale University, which counts Representative Gabrielle Giffords, Presidential-candidate Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, and former New Haven mayor, Toni Harp, as alumnae.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This first day of intensive training will provide a foundation and skill set for launch as community leaders. <\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The training includes:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>a comprehensive discussion of all of the components necessary to begin a political career both personally and professionally<\/li><li>cogent and inspiring speaking techniques<\/li><li>effective networking. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The training will specifically cover: setting up a campaign, fundraising, developing your message, building your communications and strategy plan, digital and social media best practices and more. \u00a0Other presentation topics include: making the decision to run, essentials of fundraising, finding your voice, making it matter, and a roundtable discussion with campaign school alumnae.<\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\" \/>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more information you can contact Kevin Maloney, (203) 710-3486<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While members of the Black, Hispanic &#8211;
