{"id":5058782,"date":"2022-07-15T17:48:45","date_gmt":"2022-07-15T17:48:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ctlatinonews.com\/?p=5058782"},"modified":"2022-07-15T17:48:45","modified_gmt":"2022-07-15T17:48:45","slug":"ctln-opinion-nandini-natarajan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latinonewsnetwork.com\/ctln\/2022\/07\/15\/ctln-opinion-nandini-natarajan\/","title":{"rendered":"CTLN Opinion+: Nandini Natarajan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Welcome to another episode of Connecticut Latino News Opinion+, where we talk about major issues the Latinx and underrepresented communities face in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> This week we spoke with Nandini Natarajan, CEO of the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA), about the importance and status of affordable housing across the state.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"CTLN Opinion+: Nandini Natarajan\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nFbiwD4rz-Y?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CHFA has been dedicated to alleviating the shortage of affordable housing for low to moderate-income households throughout Connecticut since 1969, working alongside the governor and the Department of Housing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe believe that all low and moderate-income families and residents should have a range of choices where they can live affordably in safe quality housing and environmentally stable and economically healthy communities,\u201d Natarajan said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The COVID-19 pandemic has emphasized all the different roles our homes can have in everyday life, Natarajan explained. People\u2019s homes have become part-time remote classrooms, workspaces, and clinics for the past two years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHome is not just four walls\u2013it\u2019s more than four walls, it\u2019s more than a roof, it\u2019s more than an investment,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s really our sanctuary, it\u2019s our
