{"id":5063180,"date":"2024-11-01T08:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-11-01T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/calatinonews.com\/?p=5063180"},"modified":"2024-11-01T08:00:00","modified_gmt":"2024-11-01T08:00:00","slug":"annual-poets-murmuration-calls-for-balance-of-earth-and-humanity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latinonewsnetwork.com\/caln\/2024\/11\/01\/annual-poets-murmuration-calls-for-balance-of-earth-and-humanity\/","title":{"rendered":"Annual Poet\u2019s Murmuration Calls for Balance of Earth and Humanity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/liveblog\/2024\/10\/27\/live-systematic-extermination-35-killed-as-israel-bombs-north-gaza\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">genocide in the Middle East<\/a> rages on, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/live\/hurricane-milton-florida-tracker-updates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hurricanes wipe out entire towns<\/a>, and the planet continues to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climate.gov\/news-features\/understanding-climate\/climate-change-global-temperature\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reach boiling temperatures<\/a>, Rosa De Anda said she was \u201cwilling to try anything\u201d to unite people to pray for \u201cbalance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur planet is dying, so desperately dying, and so we are at it at an urgent moment,\u201d the 69-year-old Mexican artist and founder of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dayofthedeadsf.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marigold Project<\/a> said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These circumstances led the Marigold Project team to host the third annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dayofthedeadsf.org\/after-dark-poets-murmuration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Poet\u2019s Murmuration<\/a> at San Francisco\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exploratorium.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Exploratorium Museum<\/a> on Oct. 24, a few days before Dia de los Muertos, a Mexican Indigenous holiday honoring the symbiotic relationship between life and death.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.cambridge.org\/us\/dictionary\/english\/murmuring\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">murmuration<\/a> is the sound of one or more people talking quietly. De Anda said she wanted to emulate this noise to \u201cintensify\u201d the prayer for Earth&#8217;s rebalance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe way this came to me was, I was brought up a Catholic. I went to Mass every Sunday. When everybody prayed, everybody prayed with different voices,\u201d De Anda said. \u201cLet&#8217;s say that \u2018Our father\u2019 started, then other people started it just slightly at a different point. Maybe we should think about the most valuable resource in which a lot of the world does not have access to: water,\u201d Revives said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Poetry also has the ability to \u201cencompass every feeling that you can have as a human,\u201d Revives added. \u201cPoetry is something that can stand the test of time. It is something that can be published. It is something that can be recorded. It is something that can be sung. Now I think of it in terms of, like, it&#8217;s gonna sound weird, but I&#8217;ve taken science and made it spiritual,\u201d she said, referencing the law of conservation of energy, which proves energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be transformed from one state to another.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe have all existed in equal measure, in some way or another, and the memories of our loved ones still exist within the world because they exist within us,\u201d she said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cabrales\u2019s uncle passed away when she was 15, though his experience working as a florist is one that continues to live through her, she said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think of him whenever I see flowers, whenever I work with flowers. there is death in my hands as we speak,\u201d Cabrales said, holding onto fluorescent orange marigolds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rosa De Anda said she hoped every attendee had a \u201cspiritual experience\u201d regardless of their religion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI just want them to take away that they are valuable, that we are all special,\u201d De Anda said. \u201cThat the power is in the love, because even in science, if there\u2019s no attraction, if
